Conference Objectives

Building upon the success of FSEP 2023, FSEP 2025 is again being constructed with Sponsors and Exhibitors in mind. The previous conferences were supported by prominent organizations within the nuclear community and have attracted representatives from Canada, USA, India, Germany, Korea, UK, and Romania.

This 2.5-day conference will focus on the latest work and information in the key areas of fire safety and emergency preparedness. New technologies and a renewed focus on nuclear energy has come with new fire protection and emergency preparedness challenges. This forum provides an opportunity to discuss these changes in the interest of improving fire safety and emergency preparedness in both new and operating nuclear power plants (NPPs), as well as Small Modular Reactors, research facilities, decommissioned facilities, uranium production and mining facilities.

The FSEP 2025 Conference will emphasize the sharing and exchange of information between the nuclear industry, fire protection and emergency preparedness specialists, suppliers and service providers, government representatives and officials, community, fire protection and Emergency Preparedness students and other stakeholders in fire protection and emergency management in the nuclear industry.

This premier international event is expected to attract a diverse audience of over one hundred specialists from Canada, the US and abroad, with over fifty plenary and technical presentations. We would appreciate your support and believe that FSEP 2025 is an important event, focused on helping the nuclear industry meet their safety objectives.

FSEP 2025 is a Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) sponsored event. Proceeds from the event are utilized by the CNS to advance the understanding of the nuclear industry.

FSEP 2025 is the ideal marketing vehicle to:

  • Launch and demonstrate new products and services including software Apps.
  • Demonstrate your expertise and solutions to industry professionals.
  • Generate new sales leads.
  • Obtain customer feedback and conduct market research.
  • Meet your clients and prospective clients face-to-face.
  • Strengthen customer and supplier relations.

Bruce Power is a Canadian-owned partnership of TC Energy, OMERS, the Power Workers’ Union and The Society of United Professionals. A majority of our employees are also owners of the business.

Established in 2001, Bruce Power is Canada’s only private sector nuclear generator, annually producing 30 per cent of Ontario’s power.

Ontario is counting on Bruce Power to provide a reliable and carbon-free source of affordable energy through 2064. To do so, Bruce Power has signed a long-term agreement with the province to refurbish six of its eight units, investing $13 billion private dollars into these publicly owned assets. Bruce Power’s Life-Extension Program will create and sustain 22,000 jobs annually while injecting $4 billion into Ontario’s economy each year.

Bruce Power employs more than 4,000 people and, since its inception in 2001, has been one of the largest investors in Ontario’s electricity infrastructure, providing billions in private dollars to the Bruce Power site — which continues to be owned by the province. The site is leased under a long term arrangement where all of the assets remain publicly owned while Bruce Power funds all infrastructure upgrades, makes annual rent payments, and pays for the cost of waste management and the eventual decommissioning of the facilities.

The site is located on the eastern shore of Lake Huron near Tiverton, Ontario, within the traditional lands and treaty territory of the people of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON), which includes the Chippewas of Nawash and Saugeen First Nation. Bruce Power is dedicated to honouring Indigenous history and culture, and is committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect with the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON), Georgian Bay Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) and the Historic Saugeen Métis, and to leading by example in this community and industry.

Westinghouse (https://westinghousenuclear.com) has a 130-year history of innovation that began when our founder, George Westinghouse, commercialized the alternating current and forever changed the way electricity was distributed.

Nuclear power splits atoms to create energy; yet, when it comes to shaping a carbon-free future, Westinghouse is committed to harnessing an even more potent source of power: The strength of human ingenuity.

Our legacy continues in the nuclear era, which originated when we built the world’s first commercial pressurized water reactor in Shippingport, Pennsylvania. More than 60 years later, nearly half of the nuclear reactors in operation around the globe use Westinghouse technology.

While we are proud of our past, its real value lies in providing a guide for our future. As the world strives to address the challenges of a changing climate, we are constantly rethinking the way we deliver nuclear energy.

From the efficient and economical AP1000® nuclear plant to the new eVinci™ microreactor for remote energy applications, we are leading the way with the development of new nuclear technologies that will enable us to share the benefits of this reliable, clean, safe and economical source of energy for generations to come.
